Duxbury 180M USB EDGE Modem
Introduction
The DUXBURY USB EDGE Modems are versatile and easy-to-use GSM devices that provide excellent usability.
Integrated into devices or application systems, they create new opportunities to manage resources more efficiently.
They are the latest step towards true wireless intelligence. The modems support EDGE technology, (Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution) and allow higher speeds for downloads and streaming of data-intensive multimedia files, exchange of email attachments and fast internet or intranet access.
Thanks to EDGE, users can easily conduct their business activities on the Internet or on the company intranet using their laptop PC - in fact, this can be done three times faster than when using GPRS.
Hardware
The 180M is a quad band GSM modem with EDGE capabilitie. The modem has a built in TCP/IP stack to perform TCP commands using an AT command set.
The modem has Siemens 75 series software built in. The modem can be connected using a RS232 serial interface.

Software
ActiveXperts SMS Messaging Server is a frameworking for sending, receiving an processing SMS and MMS messages.
It can be used for low- and high volume messaging. It also supports SMTP and POP3 for sending and receiving e-mail messages.
A few scenario's where ActiveXperts SMS Messaging Server can be used:
- Radio listeners can request for a song via SMS;
- Remote workers query stock prices and stock quantities by using SMS;
- Remote workers query the company's global phonebook by using SMS;
- Remote workers update their time sheets from a remote location by using SMS;

SMS/MMS/E-mail messages are stored in an MS Access database; this database can be migrated to an MS SQL or MySQL database at any time to improve performance.
